ACTIVITIES

Canoe or ride the whitewater rapids, ski and ice-walk, hike or heli-tour. Outdoor play is our resort forté.

Resort Activities

There’s no need to leave our picturesque Rocky Mountain resort if you don’t want to. Choose from a huge array of fun activities, inside and out — there’s truly something for everyone.

Summer Activities

Long, blue-sky days and balmy evenings bookended by golden sunsets make summer the peak of outdoor pursuits at JPL. Hike or bike the extensive network of resort trails or sightsee on horseback with Jasper Riding Stables. Go on a guided fishing trip or trekking excursion, take a helicopter tour, try whitewater rafting or hit the highway with Jasper Motorcycle Tours. Paddle out onto Lac Beauvert and watch the summer light change the clear water from jade to emerald to Caribbean-blue. Play games on the grass or go on a history walk to learn about the area. End the day with dinner and drinks on the lodge’s lake-view patio or gooey S’mores by the fire pit.

Winter Activities

Winter blankets the Rockies in a frosting of Wonderland magic, and the season is every bit as dazzling as summer. Learn about the constellations and solar system with an astronomer up on Beauvert Plateau under Jasper’s famously dark sky, then warm up with hot chocolate and S’mores. Try our groomed skating rink on Lake Mildred or take out some pucks and sticks, and play a pick-up game of pond hockey Canadian style outside on the ice. Get outfitted with snowshoes or Nordic skis at the Winter Activity Centre and traverse the resort trails. Animals are easier to spot in the white of winter, so take a Wildlife Discovery Tour or try the nearby Maligne Canyon Ice Walk. JPL is just 20 minutes from the park’s Marmot Basin and the ski season extends from mid-November through April. Drive yourself or hop on to our scheduled shuttle, and take advantage of our ski valet services. Don’t miss a season standby: roasting marshmallows over the campfire by the frozen lake.
