AB Restrictions Exemptions Program | FAQ

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge’s top priority is the safety and wellbeing of our guests, employees and visitors. Following the announcement made by Alberta Health Services stating plans to implement requirements for proof of vaccination to access certain events, services and businesses under the Restrictions Exemption Program, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge will require proof of vaccination to:

  • Dine in:
    • Orso Trattoria and Terrace
    • The Emerald Lounge and Patio
    • Great Hall Gastropub
    • Oka Sushi
    • Em to Go
  • Attend a meeting or event
  • Use the hotel Health Club, Spa, Pool + Fitness Centre
  • At this time, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge will not require proof of vaccination to:
    • Book a hotel room or to check into the hotel
    • Access Fitzhugh’s To Go
    • Order In Room Dining
    • Use the Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club or access its food & beverage outlets (Thompson’s Terrace to Go and 7th Tee Hut)
    • Enter 3rd party retail stores (Mountain Galleries, Rocky Mountain Flannel,
      the Fairmont Store)
    • Access rentals from the Boathouse

To ease access to our guests who identify as fully vaccinated, a card will be provided that can be shown to enter the facilities listed above.

The requirement to show proof of vaccine applies to all people 12 years of age or older. As per the direction provided from the AHS and AB Government Officials, there will be no exemptions made for entry into restricted areas, regardless of hotel guest status.

Proof of a privately-paid negative PCR rapid test within 72 hours of service will also be accepted (Antigen tests, tests from AHS or Alberta Precision Laboratories not allowed).

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure our guests and colleagues are safe. In addition to this mandate put in place by Alberta’s health officials, we will continue to follow the additional preventative measures currently in place at the hotel, as advised by the experts at Johns Hopkins and Ecolab, which are aligned with our brand’s ALL Safe and Well safety standards.

Question: Can I still check into the hotel if I am not vaccinated?

Answer: Proof of vaccination will not be required for hotel guests to check into the hotel and while in their guest room. However, hotel guests and visitors 12 years of age and older will still be required to show proof of vaccination to:

Question: Where in the hotel will require proof of vaccination?

Answer: Proof of vaccination will be required to:

Question: Who will be checking my proof of vaccination?

Answer: Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge will have designated staff members trained to checked valid proof of vaccination along with valid government photo ID. To ease access to our guests who identify as fully vaccinated, a card will be provided that can be shown to enter the facilities listed above.

Question: Will proof of vaccination be required to visit the pool/fitness centre?

Answer: At this time, guests staying at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge are required to show proof of vaccination to enter the Health Club, spa and pool facilities.

Question: Will you be canceling my booking if I am unable to show proof of vaccination?

Answer: At this time, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodgewill not cancel any reservations unless otherwise instructed by Alberta Health Services.

Question: Can I still make a reservation if I am unable to show proof of vaccination?

Answer: At this time, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodgeis still accepting all overnight hotel reservations and will not require proof of vaccination to check into the hotel or while in your guest room.

Question: When does this proof of vaccine mandate go into effect?

Answer: The Restrictions Exemption Program will begin on Monday, September 20, 2021, requiring proof of receiving the first shot of the vaccine. As of October 25, proof of both vaccine shots will be required. This mandate is to be in effect until further notice.

Question: How do I show my proof of vaccination?

Answer (AB Residents): Proof of vaccination can be shown via a paper or digital copy of your vaccine record along with official government ID.

Answer (Non-AB Residents): Travelers visiting AB from outside of the province will also be required to show proof of vaccination, and further information regarding how to show proof of vaccination for non-AB residents can be found here: https://www.alberta.ca/covid-19-travel-advice.aspx

Question: How long will this vaccination policy be in place?

Answer: The Restrictions Exemption Program will be in effect until further notice.

Question: Do I need proof of vaccination to attend a wedding/event at the hotel?

Answer: All events and meetings, including weddings, will require proof of vaccination. 

Question: I am a long time loyal customer of Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, can an exemption be made for me during my upcoming stay?

Answer: As per the direction provided from Alberta Health Service and Alberta Government Officials, there will be no exemptions made for entry into restricted areas, regardless of hotel guest status.

Question: I am unable to receive the vaccine due to health/religious reasons, can an exemption be made for me during my upcoming stay?

Answer: If a vaccination is not possible, you may show proof of a privately-paid negative PCR rapid test within 72 hours of service (Antigen tests, tests from AHS or Alberta Precision Laboratories not allowed).

Question: Are hotel staff required to be fully vaccinated?

Answer: At this time, Alberta Health Services is not requiring businesses to make vaccinations mandatory for employees. Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge does, however, complete daily health screening and temperature checks for all colleagues prior to every shift. We will continue to follow guidance provided by AHS, and should this change and staff be required to show proof of vaccination, we will follow the mandate accordingly.

That said, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is strongly urging staff to receive their vaccination, and has provided useful tools and resources to ensure all colleagues have the appropriate information to complete their vaccination as advised.
