Action-Packed Autumn Activities Announced At Fairmont Hotels In Canada’s Western Mountain Region

October 2, 2019

– Fairmont Welcomes Families, Foodies, and Wellness Warriors for Fall Long Weekend Getaways –

BANFF, AB – As the autumn weather arrives and larch trees turn a golden hue, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in Canada’s Western Mountain Region – Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper, and Whistler – introduce an abundance of events and activities, perfectly suited for families, foodies, and wellness warriors.

Celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving

From October 11 to 14, families at Fairmont Chateau Whistler will carve pumpkins, chase turkeys (virtually), rev their engines at the Fairmont 500 zucchini car races, or get styling with the scarecrow scramble. After working up an appetite, the hearty Harvest Brunch and tradition turkey dinner – just two of the Thanksgiving dining options at Fairmont Chateau Whistler – are sure to satisfy. Meanwhile, right next door the Whistler Farmer’s Market and Whistler Blackcomb’s ‘Turkey Sale’ offer serious retail therapy. Further information can be found online here.

Also ideal for families, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge has a Thanksgiving Weekend Offer that includes accommodation and Thanksgiving holiday activities such as pumpkin carving, a scavenger hunt, movies, story time and more. Rates start from $469/night in a Fairmont Deluxe room and a minimum of two nights accommodation is required.

For couples wanting a long weekend just for them, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge has an exclusive Thanksgiving offer available between Thursday, October 10 and Tuesday, October 15. It includes a welcome amenity, VIP turndown service, preferred dining times at the Moose’s Nook Chophouse, a complimentary 30 minute NuFace Lift with the purchase of a 60 minute Brightening and Tightening Facial, and two complimentary drinks at the Emerald Lounge to toast a relaxing weekend away. Rates start at $299 per night in a Fairmont room.

For guests staying at Fairmont Banff Springs, Executive Chef Robert Ash and his team offer an elevated Thanksgiving dinner in the new Vermillion Room. The special menu starts with roasted parsnip soup with Orchard cider crème fraiche and Chinook honey, while the entree is a delightful departure from tradition. Turkey ballotine stuffed with cranberry, chestnuts and mushrooms is accompanied glazed root vegetables, charred Brussels sprouts, whipped potato, and house-made bacon stuffing, all topped with Chef’s turkey gravy. It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie; executive pastry chef Lloyd Desousa serves up a creamy pumpkin pie cheesecake with spiced cowboy granola, burnt milk jam and Chantilly. Reservations are recommended.

Fairmont Takes Turkey to You

Fairmont Hotels will take the hassle out of Thanksgiving dinner by bringing a scrumptious feast to the home-away-from home for its guests.

Turkey to Go from Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s Portobello Deli features slow roasted free-run turkey, traditional stuffing, baked yams and buttermilk whipped potatoes, roasted BC root vegetables with thyme and maple syrup, pan gravy and of course, Chef’s famous Spiced Pumpkin Pie. Portobello’s Turkey to Go serves approximately six to eight adults and costs $249 CAD plus tax and gratuity. A minimum 24 hours’ notice and a full, non-refundable prepayment required at time of booking.

Meanwhile, guests staying in one of the Luxury Signature Cabins at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge during the Thanksgiving Weekend have the opportunity to enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner in the comfort of their own dining area on an evening of their choice. A delectable feast of classic Thanksgiving fare will be prepared by JPL’s culinary team and setup buffet style in the cabin. Guests also have the option of hiring a Chef for the evening to tend to the buffet throughout the meal. Costs are $112 CAD per person for the private buffet and $122 CAD per person to include an attending chef.

Calling Culture Vultures

This October 19-20, Fairmont Chateau Whistler and Mountain Galleries at the Fairmont are again collaborating to create ‘Trees of Hope’, a unique weekend for artists and art aficionados alike. The two-day event sees renowned Canadian artists come together, donating their time and talent for a cause. Guests can watch and interact with artists during the weekend, then bid on the work between December 1 and January 6 with proceeds going to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

As the daylight hours begin to recede in late October, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge celebrates the skies with the annual Jasper Dark Sky Festival. On October 19 the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra Strings officially kicks off the festival with the “Symphony Under the Stars” event. Details on dinners and dark sky events can be found here.

Wellness Warriors Welcome

Autumn is the ideal time to rest and recharge, and as North America’s premier wellness destination, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise offers a plethora of wellness weekends throughout October and November. Guests will learn essential mindfulness techniques, practice yoga, and learn meditation in the pristine and tranquil setting of the iconic Canadian Rockies.

Fairmont Hotels and Resorts in Canada’s Western Mountain Region has revealed its “Secret Season”, detailing the most opportune times to visit these landmark locations – Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper, and Whistler – in order to maximize everything there is to see and do in October and November, all while enjoying exceptional value and skipping the crowds.
