Or rather, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts in Canada’s Western Mountain Region is – with unique at-home Caesar recipes from the legendary lounges at Fairmont Banff Springs, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, and Fairmont Chateau Whistler in celebration of National Caesar Day on May 14, 2020.
Fairview Gin Caesar
For those that have dreamed of sipping the most iconic Canadian drink in the most iconic Canadian setting, Fairview Bar & Restaurant in Lake Louise, Alberta puts a twist on this classic cocktail with its very own Fairview Gin. Using botanicals foraged by the hotel’s bartenders and in collaboration with Wild Life Distillery’s Fairview Gin puts the perfect spin on this savoury sipper. Rimmed with a blend of classic celery salt and red pepper flakes, combine the Fairview Gin with lemon for a touch of sour, a dash of hot sauce and horseradish to add some spice, Worcestershire and traditional Clamato for a savoury finish. The full recipe can be found on the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise website here.
5 Decade Caesar
The Caesar may have celebrated 50 years in 2019 however this down and dirty but oh-so drinkable cocktail from Fairmont Chateau Whistler with each of the five flavour profiles is worth celebrating for the next fifty years. House-made Thai Chili and Orange Percolated Gin comes courtesy of a cold drip system and a ten-hour timespan. Then combining the gin with vodka, traditional Clamato juice is added for some saltiness while vine ripened BC tomatoes balance with bitterness. A dash of both balsamic vinaigrette and miso add sour and umami respectively, and a splash of Burrowing Owl’s Coruja hits the sweet spot. Muddled in the glass with a five spice mix ensures all the flavours remain intact. The full recipe can be found on the Fairmont Chateau Whistler website.
Mountain Caesar
This classic, Canadian, mountain-sized Caesar is the most sought after Signature Cocktail in Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge’s Emerald Lounge. Sticking with the traditional recipe that everyone knows and loves, this famous Caesar consists of Finlandia Vodka, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire, freshly shaved horseradish and of course, Clamato. Rimmed with celery salt and garnished with beef jerky, celery, pickled asparagus, lemon, lime, olive and onion, it’s hard not to become intrigued by this lavish looking drink. The full recipe can be found online here.
Rundle Bar Caesar
Guests can try a taste of Fairmont Banff Springs at home with the Rundle Bar’s Caesar recipe. Enjoy the classic flavours of the traditional Caesar with a refreshing hint of cucumber and some spicy additions like Wild Life Distillery’s Peppercorn Vodka and serrano pepper.
