Plan the Perfect Winter Getaway to Jasper

Day 1

Arrive early at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and enjoy a quick snack from Fitzhugh’s Fine Foods, located on our lower level. Stop by our Winter Activity Centre to pick up a pair of complimentary ice cleats so you can enjoy the trails while you wait for your 3pm check in.

Inquire on road conditions for Highway 93 with our concierge team prior to making the journey down the iconic Icefields Parkway. Snow tires or tire chains are legally required on this highway in winter.

Drive to the stunning Columbia Icefield. Here you will marvel at the largest glaciers south of the Arctic Circle. From here, stop at the awe inspiring Athabasca Falls where you can put on your ice cleats, and explore the 1 kilometer Athabasca Falls Trail as you descend into an astonishing limestone canyon which opens to the frozen Athabasca River below.

Once you are back in downtown Jasper, take a short detour to Pyramid Lake Island, where you will cross a wooden bridge before embarking on a scenic 2 kilometer lakeshore trail. Along the lake you will find many benches offering stunning views where you can peacefully take in your surroundings. If you have ice cleats, these are recommended to have just in case the trail conditions are slippery.

In the afternoon, arrive at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge to check in to your room or cabin. Have a seat in our Emerald Lounge overlooking the pristine Lac Beauvert while enjoying a refreshing drink after a successful afternoon of adventure.

Visit our Recreation Centre and relax in our heated outdoor pool to rejuvenate after your long journey. Soak up the views from our outdoor hot tub, and look forward to your evening delights as your appetite builds.

Finish your first day off with dinner by the fire in The Great Hall, where you will enjoy locally curated cuisine, complemented by our local live musician filling the room with contemporary music and a relaxing atmosphere.

After dinner, reach out to our in room dining team for a post meal drink delivered straight to your room or cabin. We suggest trying our Signature Bottled Cocktail collection. During your call with our in room dining team, we recommend placing a breakfast pre-order to arrive hassle free the following morning.

Marmot offers rental equipment and ski lessons for every experience level. Additionally, private lessons may be booked directly with private ski instructors at Marmot.

If downhill skiing isn’t your forte, stop by our Winter Activity Centre to rent cross country skies, snowshoes, and/or a fat tire bike.

Our resort offers groomed cross-country ski trails around our golf course and around Lake Mildred. At our Winter Activity Centre, you can gain access to many local snowshoeing trails, as well as marked fat tire bike trails that lead to Annette Lake and Edith Lake. All trails feature incredible views of the local mountains and forests.

Rent a pair of ice skates from our Winter Activity Centre, and enjoy skating on Lake Mildred. Warm up during your ice skate with a hot chocolate from our La Cabane on Ice refreshment centre for an authentic après ski experience.

To finish your fun filled afternoon, borrow a toboggan, tube, or sled from our Winter Activity Centre and enjoy sliding down our groomed hill. This truly Canadian winter activity isn’t to be missed at our resorts toboggan hill.
