Jasper’s Coolest Wellness Experience

Glacial Plunge & Sauna Experience

A New Wellness Ritual in the Rockies

In 2025, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge unveiled a new wellness offering – the Glacial Plunge and Sauna Experience, which has quickly become one of the most popular experiences on property.  Guests are drawn to the invigorating ritual of a refreshing plunge into Lac Beauvert, followed by the cozy lakeside warmth of the barrel saunas, creating a rejuvenating moment amidst the breathtaking beauty of the mountains.

What is a Glacial Plunge?

A glacial plunge is a form of cold-water therapy, where guests immerse themselves in icy water – in this case, Lac Beauvert, our iconic glacier-fed lake.  While the initial dip may feel intense, many people quickly experience a wave of energy and clarity – it’s like a natural reset button for the body and mind.

Benefits often associated with cold plunge include:

  • Improved cardiovascular health
  • Reduced inflammation and faster muscle recovery
  • A boost in energy, focus, and mental clarity
  • A deep sense of calm and relaxation afterward

After a day of hiking, skiing, or exploring Jasper National Park, the experience is the perfect way to reset.

First-Time?  Here’s What to Expect

If you’re new to cold plunging, don’t worry – it’s easier than you think!  Most guests start with short immersions of 10-30 seconds, and gradually build tolerance from there.  Our certified guides help make the experience as safe as it is memorable.

A few helpful tips:

  • Take slow, controlled breaths as you enter the water
  • Focus on relaxing and staying calm
  • Start with a quick dip – you’ll feel the benefits even from a brief plunge.
  • Warm up slowly afterwards in our barrel saunas or around the fire.

The Perfect Après-Adventure Ritual

Our Glacial Plunge and Sauna Experience pairs perfectly with a day spent outdoors.  After skiing fresh powder at Marmot Basin, hiking the vast alpine trails in the National Park, or paddling across the turquoise lakes, a cold dip can feel incredibly restorative.

Many guests make it part of their evening ritual – a refreshing plunge, a cozy warm-up in the sauna, a moment to unwind lakeside, and then head to dinner with that unmistakable post-cold-plunge glow.

Trying something new is part of the magic of travel.  Whether you’re a dedicated wellness enthusiast or simply just curious, experiencing a cold plunge in a glacier fed lake is one memory you’ll carry with you forever.
